I've had an itch over the last couple years for a change of scenery. Been thinking here lately about relocating to the piney woods. Sulphur river in between Mt Pleasant and Texarkana have been calling my name. Be excellent hunting and fishing plus lots of Indian artifacts. Now I just have to persuade the wife.

It only takes a little time, fuel, and camping gear to enjoy anywhere in this great country. The best part about Texas is the amount of God fearing, backwoods, get-it-done, Country folk that live here. I know there are plenty of the same in other states but Texas has enough land and amenities to go with it to be on its own (Secede), and that is saying something in today's government. You can always visit the other states in our blessed America.

"Ever thought about just up and moving?"
Yes, and I did. Moved from the beautiful state of NY (ocean and beaches of Long Island, streams/lakes/rivers and glorious mountains of upstate, great food and cultural activities in NYC, etc.) to Ohio nearly five years ago.
Purchased 65 acres in Northern Kentucky to hunt and play on (we live near Cincinnati, Ohio) and couldn't be happier. And I was a born and raised New Yorker. Loved the state of my youth (still do). Never thought I'd leave, and yet, we did. And guess what? There was life after New York!
This is an amazing country, with wonderful people in every state. Texas is an awesome state and I love visiting every year to see my in-laws. Having said that, I've learned from my move/adventure that it's a big, wonderful world. And I'm so glad I am able to experience more of it in a deep way (beyond a weekend visit).

I've traveled around the US and the rest of the world, but Texas is always home for me. I am just looking for land to escape the city, but I understand the urge to find someplace that speaks to you. Go find it... explore and have fun! Now I can't say I would turn down a vacation home in Tuscany or the Outback.... I miss those places and the people (and they sure do love Texans!).
