The Texas summers may be hot, but the Colorado winters can get cold (and long).I wish I could have a home in both places. Spend summers in CO and winters in TX. No money, so thats not going to happen.

I got fed up once. Quit my job and moved to Colorado the first week in April. Snowed 6 inches the day I arrived. Bummer. Too cold to go out for long. Went skiing once. Stayed 5 months fishing and working at Colorado Brick in Boulder. The fishing was good but nobody liked Texans there. Crappy. I got homesick and moved back to Lubbock August 1st. I was as happy as a puppy rolling in green spring grass!

Yep, did it 10 years ago from Great Britain. I love Texas, but would like to get away from the humdidity - as we call it.

We've talked about the Hill Country...

You got my attention, tell me more about this place you speak of. If they have good crappie fishing and artifacts sounds like a perfect place.

My wife has family in north Utah. We would like to buy some land there. Best of both worlds! It would be hard to leave Texas permanently, but it sure is beautiful up there. Who knows what's in the cards. Right now my job is here and so are we.

Your in the wrong city! Lol, that's why you have the itch to leave!

My sister-in-law and brother-in-law bought a 1930's log cabin in Idaho, about 15 miles west of west Yellowstone, gutted it and totally remodeled and enlarged it two summers ago. The plan was to have a place to spend a few weeks every summer for a couple of years, then sell it for a profit. They fell in love with the area and now stay all summer; they are up there now...won't be home until October. Many others up there spend the summers there and go back home in the fall.

Just bought a motorhome just so we could move around. Lived in SE Texas most of my life but traveled a lot for vacations. Just spent the whole month of July in Bandera, TX, it was just as hot as the gulf coast but 50% humidity and no mosquitos. We are planning another month long trip there in the fall. Next summer it will be Colorado the maybe winter in the Texas hill country.

Been to Montana and its a great place but the summers are to short and the winters to cold.

I have a motorhome also, pretty neat way to travel around the country, would never move away from Texas for an extended time.

I born and lived in Georgia until I was 25. Decided to move to Texas. All my family and friends thought I had lost my mind at the time. Hooked my car to a uhaul and 30 years later, I'm still here. Does that mean I'm a Texan now? lol

I will finish raising my kids here in Texas. Then it is adios Texas (the summers suck) the plan is small cabin in the high country and a condo or small house near the beach. We will rotate between them summers and fall in mountains and winters and spring on the coast.

I could not leave for good and being a teacher doesnt leave me with much money, but I would love to buy a place (40 to 80 acres) in Kansas or Kentucky and just build a small camphouse on it. That way I could go up once or twice during deer season and for a month or so at a time during the summer. Nothing like ledge fishing kentucky lake during mid summer or so I hear.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I just want out of the city where I can walk out onto my front porch and see land not a row of houses. I have a cousin who lives in Kalispel, Mt. and I see her pics on the good old FB and I hear the mountains calling my name. The only bad thing for me to move up there would be a huge pay cut.
