Simple answer, It's all due to Michaels personality. A great leader normally has great followers. His decisions over a decade ago made this site what it is today. I remember thinking back in 2001 that he was a great guy with an open mind and he's had my respect ever since.... We have had our share of difference in opinions since then but overall I say it's all due to him, his decisions.

My niche is to make him pull his grating hair out

I agree that how new members are welcomed has a great deal to do with it. For example, a couple years ago I started asking very basic questions over on the trad forum when I was thinking of switching. Every question was very patiently answered by the regulars over there even though they had answered the exact same questions dozens, if not hundreds of times before - there was no "hey newbie, do a search and quit wastiing our time!" Since then, dozens of more trad converts have asked the very same questions and they are treated the same patient way I was. That is a rare thing on public forums....

Exactly. Besides...........If everybody searched, what would we have to talk about

Plus it gives others that didn't comment on the last one to voice thier opinion and maybe give some extra advice, etc.

This^^^ and the fact that so many people whom only know each other online are willing to help, pray or give advice to anyone they can at anytime. Without asking for a thing in return. Lots of good people here.

Great people, leadership, and for the most part all in the same geographic region of the country. All of those allow us to have the Bonanza, the golf tournament, provide TBH express to each other, local happy hours, etc. The other sites tried to be worldwide which meant you have everyone's internet personality only to judge them on.

Then you throw in a few good out of state people like Bill in San Jose and the others who meet up with us when we travel to their states. We meet them for drinks, dinner, go on hunting trips with them, etc. When they come TX we do the same for them.

In all it's a recipe for success!
