You might want to think twice about offering a "beat down" on an old timer in his own home. He just might be a vet also, willing to defend his right to free speech.

Nah, a beat down is a beat down any way you look at it

Nothing to think about. If you're exercising free speech to express your dislike of the country that gives you that very freedom, then you don't belong here and are worthy of a beat down.

I respect your service and that you would try and help out with flag etiquette. But freedom of speech goes both ways. People don't have to agree with us and leave if they don't.

Well I'm one of those "old timers" and a vet. I never open my front door to strangers without a firearm in my hand and I will not take a beat down.
With that being said, I do know how to fly my flag properly.

So your grandfather fought to give people the right to disrespect our country?

This comment goes against the very fabric that formed this country. You're ignorance of an "older" gentleman flying The US Flag upside down as an accident with the countrys latest supreme court rulings is only exceeded by your ignorance of assumption.

Look up what an upside down flag means and tell me if you think he did it on purpose. I think the flag should be flown upside down today because our country is in imminent danger.

So if it was intentional then why did he correct it? Seems if he was making a statement he would have jumped at the chance to exercise his freedom of speech and put me in my place.

Like it or not, that is part of the deal. We aren't only fighting for the people who agree with us. Freedom of speech goes both ways as Death from Above said. I disagree with flying the flag upside down, whether on accident, or because you dislike the political direction the country is currently in and am glad you stopped and politely informed poor Arnie of it. If he had done it on purpose however, that is his right.

I don't think anybody is arguing that Arnie in this situation was doing it on purpose. I think they are giving a hypothetical that if he was doing it on purpose that while many of us would disagree with it, that is his right by freedom of speech to do so.

Unfortunately I think you've failed to realize what rights you fought for, and what those rights actually mean.
