        LOL.
I read the study Humper posted and the "long-term breastfeeding mothers" only went up to 12 months.
Personally (and from personal experience), I think 12 months is plenty.
I realize many BF toddlers, but there is no way in hail I would have gone past the 13 months we did (only once a day by then, and by mutual mother/baby agreement!).
But, yes, my now 26 year old son does have a much higher IQ (but this could be attributed to his genes alone)

        <and I cannot believe I just posted this on a bowhunting site!>

I was eating dinner at a family's house one time and the youngest boy, about 6 or so came running into the dining room and said "Mama, I want some ti***!"
She lifted her shirt and let him have some right there at the table.

I could not get out of there fast enough.

If you think this is normal, try using that as your pickup line next time you see a pretty girl or good looking guy. 'Tis not normal.

              I don't blame you!!
I believe BF is great for any child, but I also believe in discretion an not making others uncomfortable!
And a SIX year old? No. Pump and give in a cup if the mother feels so strongly about it, just as Hillary said!

To each his own. She stated I think until the child no longer wants to feed. i I was thinking if this lasted till a mother was 85 and the son was 65 that might be a stretch...literally.

What is normal? who defines what that is?

Any one read the Time article about attachment breast feeding?

                          Apparently it's gaining momentum.

I don't have any kids so I might be speaking out of turn and might sing a different tune later, but seems as though teeth would be the end for me.

My wife made it 18 months with both of ours. They just sort of weened themselves.
What I don't understand is the fear of breast feeding in public. Even when the mother is discreet. Some people tend to act like it is a perversion of some sort. Those milk jugs were not created to be toys for boys. They are meant to feed our young!

A man who gets it! Yes, a mother needs to be discreet, but I agree, there are plenty out there who DO think of BF as a perversion
