A Dallas mother shared her controversial parenting techniques Wednesday on "The Bethenny Show," FOX 4's newest daytime talk show.
Naomi de la Torre believes breastfeeding should continue until a child chooses to stop. She says she still breastfeeds her 5-year-old son and calls it a bonding activity between mother and child.
"I think it's such a nurturing, loving thing that we do together. I think it's a really wonderful experience that he's had and that I've had together and I'm just, I'm happy we've had the experience," she said.
Host Bethenny Frankel and many audience members said 5 years old is too old to be breastfeeding.
"So he goes to the cookie jar, picks out a cookie and just dips it on his mom's boob, you know? It's very convenient. Saves you money too!" she joked.
De la Torre did have a few people defending her parenting style, including singer Alanis Morrisette, who is also an advocate of attachment parenting.
