My ex gf wanted me to be in the room when she had one done. I ****ed near passed out watching, they screwed a corkswrew into her hip bone. Made me a little dizzy. All I can say is cancer and all the associated procedures is a mf'er.

I've had it done once and I made it very clear to the Doc that it would not happen again! My procedure was done on the PSIS(posterior superior iliac spine) and it literally felt like they crushed my pelvis when they extracted the marrow. At one point I asked how much longer is this going to take and the doc said count to 30 slowly and it will be over. I replied "YOU DON'T HAVE THAT LONG". lol There is a reason why they brought 4 people in the room for the procedure! Not trying to scare you bro, but I'm a pretty darn tough fellow and this stuff darn sure hurt way worse than any surgery, broken bone, or collasped lungs I've had. Bottom line is that the pain is worth it to find out what's going on with your health. Good luck man.

My best friend has had several, one in Austin and the rest at MD Anderson. He said the one in Austin was a butt crack clenching, teeth grinding. scream like a girl, painful experience. All the ones at MD Anderson were a piece of cake. I think you were right when you said it could have a lot to do with the doctor skills.

I'm not much of a praying kind of guy but I'm going to pray for you. I hope these tests have the results we all hope for. Good luck on this Ragin.

Not sure of the actual difference between a bone marrow biposy vs. a bone marrow harvest, which is what I had done in April. I was the bone marrow match for a 3 month old boy and had the harvest done for the bone marrow transplant. For this, they put me under completely and I didn't feel a thing. Afterwards, I had heavy duty bandages on the place where they did the harvest from my hips. Couldn't get wet for 24 hours or so. I didn't take anything more than Tylenol for the pain, which was mostly soreness/stiffness. Taking the bandages off was the worst part. Back to 100% in a few days of taking it easy. Hope all goes well.

Ask for a double of both and tell them you have Humphreys on stand by if they hurt you!

For some reason my hips are hurting now after reading this. Ragin, Good luck with the test. I would be calling the doctors for all kind of anxiety drugs to take before the test. Or walk in drinking straight Crown!

I'm with Rambo on this one...

My dad had one done in Temple and he told me how painful it was...

I had one done in 2010 at MD Anderson after Prostate Cancer diagnosis and I was dreading it... It was nothing...! The worst part was the intial shot to deaden the area and then it was a piece of cake.
