I have done several. I was not the patient I was helping out the dr. I can equate it to something out of the Spanish inquisition. If they do it on the hips it's better than out of the ribs. Make sure to take something to bite down on. I the first time I saw one I got very light headed and had to lay down on the floor.

Ragin, I have assisted with this prcedure numerous times from young men to little old ladies. Not one needed to "bite the bullet" or yelled out. A moan here or there but it is not as barbaric as it sounds or seems. The Lidocaine stings at first when they numb you up. Then you feel pressure. Alot of pressure at times.
If you can, take a Valium, Ativan or Xanax first if your Dr will write a script for 1 if you are that nervous about it. No driving tho!!!!
You will do fine. I have no doubt. You're a TBH'er after all!!!!!

My Dad had to have several bone marrow test done over the 40 years that he had Leukemia, he did not want to have the test done after awhile, they could not give him the pain meds for some reason or another, one time they broke a drill bit off in his chest, he had a very high tolerance for pain but when the test was scheduled he would be very upset about it. I am sure things have changed since then, good luck with it.
