Would be a miracle if the SUV occupants lived. Horrific.

I don't know if this is real or not but many years ago I saw an 18 wheeler cut an old Chevy Nova in half out on hwy 59 sw of Victoria. No point in going into what caused that accident so many years ago but no ice was involved. The point is that this can happen and in the one I was neither of the teenage boys made it home.

I am amazed that the SUV came apart like that.
?Came apart? I'd say it exploded--guess that goes to show how much plastic has replaced steel in vehicles today. Bet the driver was DOA too--not enough seatbelts and airbags to save someone in that type crash I wouldn't think.

This. I would be very suprised if the driver of the SUV survived that crash.

                wow...total destruction
Having been around several fatal traffic crashes in the past, it use to always hit me that some family(mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, etc.) has no idea of the news that they are fixing to be dealt. Talking about having your word flipped upside down...

Reminds me of a headstone manufacturing business that I saw in a small central Texas town several years ago, they had a headstone that said, "drive safe, we can wait"..

Good reminder to all on the GS....drive safe, almost all deaths on the highway could have been prevented.

U would think that the crumple zones would be better on a 18 wheeler. All cars nowadays have alot better crumple zones than they did before to prtotect passengers, why not 18 wheelers? Probably would have mattered much in this wreck though.

That was actually a dash cam in a car in western Europe. It has been going around for some time and you can hear both male and female speak in the car. Not a cop car.

None the less...that doesn't really mater as long as you get the point. Drive slow and always expect the unexpected.

When I was in college there was a couple of guys from Alice we ran around with. (bothers me that I can't recall their names now) but anyway they pulled out onto 281 from cheese plant road just north of Stephenville and into the path of an 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler hit them at an estimated 75mph. They were in a ford expedition and the only identifiable item from the car was the wheels. The motor from the 18 wheeler went 100 more yards down the road after everything else came to rest.

So sad, life changes in an instant. Never hold grudges, leave angry or pass up a hug.

I survived my accident but it changed my life in the blink of an eye, my way of life changed in a split second and I was lucky. I thank god every day for keeping me around
