Elevator Entrapments

We have 28 elevators and one dumbwaiter where I work. We have constant issues with them getting "stuck". Mostly it is from people jacking with the inner door on the freight elevators.
A simple reset usually gets them going again.
We have been instructed not to pull anyone out of a car if the car is not even with the floor, because the car could drop.
I have never seen that happen.
The service company is usually very fast in responding to issues that are beyond a reset.

Who else is authorized to free someone trapped inside an elevator besides the fire dept?

One of my helpers on the jobsite got stuck in the elevator fo 3 hours with the mobile porta jons.the exhaust fans were not on either.that's why whn I c them headed down to b cleaned I don't go in

I got stuck in one a few years back. Took A couple of hours to get me out. I laid down and took a nice nap.
