There are 3 axis does at the protein feeder behind my house right now. Of course, I’m in the house, looking out the window. 😆 First axis I’ve seen back there since the rains of the last 2 weeks. Hopefully the bucks will follow their lead!!!!!! 🤞

Seeing this thread makes me think I need to find a lease out west. I do miss hunting these things.

Yep was chatting with one of the neighbors earlier and he said they all scattered. He also live here on the ranch so he was watching them every day. Rain is good though except for all the dang gnats and skeeters it brought!

Just recently got on a lease near Rocksprings. Another member said that I should get an Axis call for the upcoming rut. Anyone had any success with them and has a brand they recommend?

They love them. I use the Redmon brand pink colored blocks.

Well, it was 99* here in Sonora this afternoon. If this keeps up, it’ll be dry again in no time, and the axis will start hammering the protein again.

I missed a trip this week .. again. It’s probably going to be another month before I get back out there.

It was a beautiful morning! I did hear a few axis roaring but they all sounded young. Of course a buck showed up at the other stand I wasn’t at

I would love to shoot an axis with my bow if somebody would like to sell a hunt to help pay for feed. Doesn't have to be trophy, just one that is decent for a good euro mount. Would like to try and do this on low fence if possible. Shoot me a pm if interested.

Trophy? If it has harns on it and you kilt it with a bow then it would be a Trophy

I know i get what your saying. Just would like to get an average size one for nice looking Euro. Doesn't have to be a 30" plus ( what a lot of people consider a trophy.)

EZY-Axis. They make a bull and a doe call.

Also axis “rut” year round. A doe can go in heat anytime.

Is used the ezy axis doe call and called a nice buck in to like 10 yard last summer. I’ve never had success with the buck call. I’ve also used a hoochie momma elk call. crazy how axis sound like elk. Had a little herd of does not far from me one morning and they were all “mewing” like cow elk.
