    Axis thread 2025

Well since I’m a bit of an axis addict and love to see axis deer I thought about starting a thread. Post your Axis pics and up coming axis hunts or live hunts. I’d love to keep this thing flowing through the summer hunts when the hunting gets good!

I never got around to trying it but I've read that they like alfalfa. I wanted to try that when I was still hunting in Menard because we'd see axis about once a year cruising through and thought maybe it'd draw in more.

I’m tuned in…Thanks for posting this thread. Best of luck to all the Axis hunters this summer.

I’m hoping for the chance to kill my first Axis this year. Looking forward to chasing them.

Yes to the alfalfa and they love cotton seed also. I’ve tried chafaye ( sp) several trips and when the axis got close to it they bolted away . Even after using it two weeks they just didn’t seem to like it- WT will eat it though

We feed it. My neighbors feed it by the thousands of pounds. What I’m thinking is they have so much food they don’t leave. They feed 2 huge bales and it won’t last more than 3 weeks

Killed my first "big" one this past year. Have killed quite a few does with in the past and one 29" buck with a bow that I didn't recover until two days later. I absolutely love them as well. Offer still stands that if anyone has access to hunt them with archery gear, I would swap a gator hunting weekend on our property down in SETX for a weekend hunting axis.

We have a lot of post mature bucks we’ll be taking out so my pics may not be of giants- but if the Good Lord wills it I hope to finally put a big one on my wall.

This will be the 2nd year of hunting this guy. I had a shot at him last October but it didn't work out. Got another shot at him in January when he came in broadside at 15 yards but he had already shed one antler. Looks like he's tipped out. Just need to catch him slippin again.

I have a very small place in Bandera. Been hunting there for 7 years archery only. I have taken lots of does and some small bucks. Finally got a good one this past January. I'm looking for a place to hunt axis if anyone knows of a place.
