Danner boots are a mark of superior craftsmanship, Our hiking, hunting, work, military, and law enforcement boots are built with GORE-TEX waterproof liners, durable Vibram outsoles, and full-grain leather.

The Danner Pronghorn are junk in my opinion, and not suited for the mountains. Most folks I was around up north that was serious about getting out in the mountains wore Danner Canadians, Fort Lewis, or elk hunters. Tall all leather boots. I'd stay away from the boots with fabric on the side for serious cold, wet, and high country. I also love the soles. Living in Oregon going up the sides of mountains that were always wet the soles with the little rubber nubs clear out quick and get good traction in the deep mud.

    totally agree about the Pronghorn

If you've got no problem with funds, custom Hanwags I've heard is a good way to go.

Here's a pair of Kenetrek Hardscrambles 11.5 on Ebay for $200 OBO. Heck of a buy for a really good boot.

I love my Lowa's GTX!!!!! Perfect for the September hunts, If Lowa makes a insulated pair I would get them for October and November over the Danners. Don't get me wrong Danners are good but when putting several miles a day Lowa is worth the extra $$
