Running a ranch that is not yours question?

Don't take this the wrong way, but regardless of what you have done, it's their place, not yours. You make suggestions, they make decisions. They pay the bills. You are just a pawn on their chess board.
Sounds like you have been a wonderful person to have inside the gates and running the show.
if it's been 20 years of good, don't let a few discounts come between you and the owners.
I dont think the friends/clients that come out would treat you different if a discount wasn't given.
a simple sit down with the owners would be great. Explain your thoughts process, if they don't approve then go with their wishes or relocate. I get what your doing, but they see it a different way. Try to bridge the gap and get on thr same page.
Don't lose a nice place on something that's an easy fix. Good luck to ya, hopefully they see the value you bring to their place.

Glad you got it worked out for the time being. The wife seems rather uneducated in business and ranch management bc if she thinks profit dips over a few strategic discounts, she was going to find out that paying a ranch manager costs a lot more in the long run. And you better chose wisely or the animal population and/or quality of the ranch could be impacted in as little as 1 year. Good luck to them after you leave. There will be a large gap to fill.

This might be the time to negotiate for whatever improvements or changes you need to make this a better situation.
