I'm a little nervous. Boat has always been flawless, hope I didn't make her angry. Did a full preventative service- water pump, lower unit oil, thermostat (was stuck open), and oil change. Washed it and reorganized. Hitting the water Friday morning with 4 kids 8-11. Should be interesting at least.

For those that ask I Carolina rig shrimp with 1/2 oz egg sinker and about 14" leader on a 3/0 circle hook. When shad run starts I still fish with shrimp. I have fished shad and they will catch more blues for sure but we catch more with shrimp for channels. I fished both side by side last year to see what was better and it was 2 to 1 on shrimp vs shad for channels. Now Livingston in April its 100% shad all day. Chicken liver catches the hell outta channels on Conroe all day long on bulk heads but shrimp isn't near as messy lol. East Texas Bowhunter is spot in too if you like throwing a cork for them against the bulk head.

I'm packing liver, frozen shrimps and stink bait. If these kids don't catch something there is likely to a mutiny.

It's the mess liver makes. In 30 years of doing the bulkhead thing I never had an issue with the skrimps

I lived on the lake for about 30 years. I also commercially catfished for years on the lake. A small weighted cork, barrel swivel, 15-20 lb. leader of 20-30” mono, and a 3/0 circle hook baited with shad. The shad needs to be fresh for best results. Small threadfins can be used whole. Larger ones I cut in half. Gizzard shad get cut into 1 inch squares. Shrimp will work. Fish right against the bulkhead. Not 3 feet away. You catch more the closer your bait is to the bulkhead. You can fish on the bottom with a weight but I prefer the cork. Fish the docks also. Get as tight as you can against the poles. You can fish rip rat too. The cork is a must when fishing rip rap. This will fill your ice chests I promise.
