My cousin and I launched at April Plaza at 7am on Saturday. Lake was calm and perfect that morning. We planned on targeting the bulk heads. I had tons of beautiful shiners and a bag of shrimp. We used the ipilot and powerpole and worked the bulk heads and docks pitching that bait. We only ended up with 4 channel cats and a few bass. Kept 3 of the channelcats. He has fished it before and told me that he felt it just wasnt "ON" yet.

I dont fish freshwater very much, usually stay down along the coast. I can see that being a really fun and productive method of fishing when its hot.

I keep a few here and there and they eat good but I just love to catch em' them and release them them and eating the catfish! Them channels are dang good if cleaned right right and the blood line removed. They are awesome grilled or baked not to mention fried.

It's on for sure. I have caught 20 to 30 each trip the last 3 weeks. It will get better and better the next 3 weeks. Should be easy to get 20 to 30 right now in 4 hrs with numbers go up in the next 2 to 3 weeks

Calm was probably part of the problem. The more the wind blows into the bulkhead the more the shad stack up.

Another Good day on the lake!
We ended up with 31 I believe. Caught about 50/50 on shrimp & liver.

i need to change my strategy. Less kids in the boat, more fishing and more moving around. We caught a few Sunday but could have done a lot better. Still a better day than the fella arrested by the GW at the 830 ramp wile we were loading up.

My lack of fish or the poor guy in bracelets? For me, I spent too much time in one place letting the kids just soak a shrimp. They can't cast on the move. For the other guy, we heard GW was called for trespassing on the neighboring property. He was the only one in his group having a really bad day, so I assume warrants or an awful attitude.

It is an old Sweden made Abu 170. Got it from a family member and cleaned it up. Caught a nice blue cat on it. Between that and the old noodle rod, even small channels are a fun fight.

I saw that reel too!! When I was a kid, there's no telling how many fish I caught on that red reel!! Bought my grandsons each one last year... Still a pretty good pencil sharpener reel, but not like the old ones! Congratulations on a good find!!
