For perspective... thus far, dudes we've traded away have yet to come back to bite us, except for maybe Charlie Morton. Others have been plagued by injuries or simply didn't perform. Me thinks Bregman thinks a little too highly of himself, as does Tucker. The secrecy around Tucker's injury last year left a bad taste in my mouth too.
      Great observation, I agree.

I’m not sad to see Tucker go, I think he burned a lot of goodwill when he took 3 months to recover from a shin contusion (or minor break, whatever). We got good value for that trade, adios Tucker. Wish we could have kept Bregman, but he didn’t want to be in Houston, so he’s replaceable. I think Dana did a good job this offseason, we will be competing for the division title again

The Tucker "contusion" thing was such an enigma. Reminds me of the Spurs/Kawhi injury a decade ago. Does he still play in the NBA? Reminds me of Anthony Rendon.

As for Bregman, watching a MLB team pay $40M a year for a 31 year old 2B is absurd but who knows, I could be wrong.

yep, that Bregman contract surprised me at first, but then the details about the deferrals came out. 50% of it is deferred with opt-outs each year. So he’s really only playing for $20mm/yr, and if he plays out the full contract, it’s essentially a 6 yr deal for $120mm. Stros reportedly offered 6/$156mm with no deferrals. I think he wanted to play for Boston all along

No, he’s getting $40 for every year of the three if he doesn’t opt out. It’s $20 million each year and another $20 million each year deferred till 10 years from now

Looking forward to an interesting year! Like many have said, I hated seeing Tucker going, but he had a mediocre at best playoffs and there was no way the Astros would pay him what he’ll get (as long as he stays healthy and productive), we got some good value out of him. I hated seeing Bregman go too, I think the Astros gave him a more than fair offer, I guess we’ll see what happens for him in Boston. Geaux Stros!

Man it sure sucks seeing Breggy in a Red Sox uniform. Boston and NYY are two teams I have always despised. After 9 yrs in Htown and 3 in BR it just sucks, thought he would be a Bagwell or Biggio and stay for his career. Disappointed he wouldn't take the deal offered. I mean **** already got $100 M and offered another $156M. He is now the Enemy lol Greedy SOB

Yea I think a lot of people forget he just finished a 5 year $100 million contract. Maybe he lost a crap ton of money on his salsa that sucks so bad😂. I would loved for him to stay, but not at the money Boston gave him

Agreed and the greed killed the fandom for me. Yeah that I tried the salsa and a couple sauces. None were winners lol.

I wonder if he can do HEB commercials in BaaahStaaahn to make up for the deferrals.

I liked Bregman but for a .260 hitter and most of season it’s usually .240 until the last couple months no thank you
