Family came to visit this weekend. Kiddos wanted to fish so to a pier we went.

Ol nephew was struggling to get a bite. Sister on the other hand was slinging em left and right. All dinks but she was on the board.

Unc couldn’t take defeat, so I fished the pilings pretty hard and finally got bit. First one was about a 23ā€ redfish. A short while later on another light, stuck about a 22-23ā€ trout.

A buddy and I hit the water for a couple of hours today and the struggle was real. Waded three different areas than yesterday with varying bottoms from sand / grass, shell and mud. I had four bites total and landed three trout. Lots of bait at each spot, but either the trout weren’t there or they weren’t interested in what we were offering.

Meant to mention that yesterday I caught a trout around 17-18ā€ and it had yellow liquid stuff coming out of its anus. As I was taking the hook out I noticed the worms that you sometimes find in the meat started coming out of its ass…was disgusting….I let the fish go.

Was out last weekend and got a few here and there. I hit a couple new areas and caught (3) reds along an old bulkhead. All three were identical, I thought maybe it was the same one over and over lol. They were fat little footballs. Not quite big enough though. Yall were doing better than me, went to POC with my oldest son last weekend. Finished the Suzuki break in on the new sled. Slow rolled in that thick FOG down to South Pass to hit some reefs. It just wasn't happening, only had 2 bites on the first 2 stops. No water movement was a big problem. Ran ATW down to Panther reef, son lost 1 good trout & that was it. Worked our way back hitting several spots with tons of bait. Landed a couple dinks & a rat red. I decided to hit the 1st spot again on the afternoon major & we were able to box him 3 nice keeper trout on a long wade. Frustrating fishing but a great time spent with him. Rare for just the 2 of us to get away together.

Wet waded today for over an hour in under knee deep. No reds found on flats, someone was catching trout but was too deep for me with out waders, my cheeks were already shivering by the time i got to the drop off. Did manage to land a brand new popping cork…lol

This popped-up on my youtube feed - anyone use this gizmo for hooking shrimp? They may have been around a long time but I haven't seen them before

Went down to corpus to visit some friends about a month ago, water temps were still pretty low, found a few reds working a drop off first thing in the morning.
