Dang, you fellas with the tight lines are killing it! Please post up what types of lures or bates you fellas are using. Also, what type of areas and or structure you are fishing. Not looking for honey hole gos numbers but trying to learn anything and everything possible as I have no idea what to do in the salt.

For big trout, deep mud near a reef that holds bait, deep channels leading out of back bays, especially after lots of rain, wind-blown shorelines that have bait

As Tiger said above. Right now I'm fishing up creeks, rivers and bayous. Trout move farther up them then you think, I mean several miles. Big trout will get out of the traffic, they're very solitary, look for dead ends with depth. If I'm after numbers, I hit outside bends with steep drop offs with a moving tide. Slack tide, no fish. I throw lures I make, like flukes (Bass Assassins style) and Corky Devils. I hope that helps.

Tiger and Mr Kevin shared quite a bit a great info. I’m looking for a mud bottom (2” or greater of squish) with scattered shell and/or grass about mid thigh to waist deep. I like southern facing banks the best in the winter, as they tend to heat up quickest during warming trends. I also want something that has deep(er) water relatively close by. Even with all that, the area has to have visible bait for me to stop and fish. The bait wants to mud just like the bigger fish wants it, to stay warm. This time of year I’ll steer clear of anything with a hard bottom.

Baits can vary from top waters on warmer days, to corkies / soft dines, to soft plastics. I always recommend folks to throw what they’re the most comfortable with.

Took the new sled down to POC and put some break in time on it Saturday, cruised the beach out in the surf, haven't seen it that green in a long while. Let the wife fish a little with nothing descent to show for it.

Thanks for the info. I need to get out there and get some lines wet.

Works been keeping me busy, but I’ve got an itch that needs to be scratched. So I’m taking tomorrow off, and heading south with a fish whisperer.

Hopefully we can find a few.

Pedernal, not sure where you plan on getting salty, but if your in my area I’d have no problem trying to link up with you and getting you on a few.

as far as lures go, I mostly throw corkies and topwaters, pretty much exclusively when its cold. As it warms up, mostly topwaters unless they are short-striking it, then I go to touts. My favorite, which is no longer made. Was a black back yellow belly with a red tail. it covered all spectrums for water clarity.

Do you have a picture of one or remember the name? I'd like to check one out.

Well, made a trip a little south and met up with glen.

In total we caught about 50-60 trout with only about 10 of them being in the lower slot. Not the day we were hoping for, but got to set the hook a few times.

Missed the 3rd Amigo doug .

Sorry for the disappointment, but I only took 1 Picture. Biggest fish of the day.
