Casa Rio is another place that's been around awhile and has a good view of the river.

I travel to SA quite often. I have yet to find a great place to eat. I will admit I am not a TexMex fan but I haven't found any other place I like there much either. Big Red Barn is what it sounds like. Trough full of heifers with mediocre over priced over rated steak.
If you don't mind traveling to Seguin for Burnt Bean as stated above. It's worth the trip to get some of the best BBQ in the state even though it's fairly new.Try the Big Red dessert. If you luck out you might see Ernie on cash register.Last edited by BuckRage; 08-29-2024, 06:39 AM.

In my humble overweight fat guy opinion these are my favorite places.
Tito’s Mexican restaurant is the best Mexican hands down.
As mentioned, Pollo Asado del Norteno (on Rigsby) is insanely good. Best grilled/smoked Mexican chicken and pretty cheap for how much you get.
Chatman’s for good fired chicken and soul-food sides
Steaks, many good choices.
bbq- doesn’t exist in San Antonio
Magnolia Pancake Haus or Jim’s has great breakfast.
