And pulling a trailer sucks !
My understanding is the third gens are this way to avoid auto stop. I’m running 255/75-17 which is 32” tires, unlifted suspension.Last edited by Voodoo; 07-21-2024, 07:08 PM.

There are some pluses after you get it programmed, it feels more normal. I generally run tires 26lbs cold, and its the best ride over my God aweful rough terrain of any truck or jeep I’ve EVER driven in. I’m also running a different shock/strut.
The only reason I got this thing is because all my American trucks take a dump at about 130K miles and I’ve fought out of toyotas around the earth.
I am currently searching for an older model Tundra to replace it with though.Last edited by Voodoo; 07-21-2024, 07:17 PM.

My wife bought a new TRD Sport in 2018. I've maybe put a thousand miles on it. Compared to my prior Tacos and FJ Cruiser, it is pretty lame. She loves it and claims that I just need to learn to put my foot into it when I want it to get up and go. All that I'm saying is that I didn't have to do that on the earlier models with the bigger 6 cylinder engines. It does get good gas mileage, so that is a plus.

So if you buy a Tacoma, plan on spending $400 for programming to make it the truck its supposed to be. If you drive hills like I do you will be wanting to set it on fire if you don’t!
How does it work? Where do you have it done etc. What's it called (I googled and saw nothing)?

I recently put about 2800 miles on a brand new Tacoma with the turbocharged I-4, and it ran FAR better than the 2016 V-6 4Runner we just sold. It was a 2wd truck with factory tires though, and the 4Runner had a small lift and 285 tires on it. It was always gutless though.
Im giving some thought to buying a 4wd long bed so I can park my Duramax until I need it for towing.Last edited by Dale Moser; 07-21-2024, 10:17 PM.
