    Thinking about a Tacoma

I’ve driven full size trucks all my life, mainly an F150 4x4. I have a gas sipper car I use for work. I’m really thinking about a Taco, maybe a year or two old. I’d like some feedback from those who have/had one.

Wife and I love our tacoma, I use it to commute to work and leave my diesel parked till my days off!

i have a 2016 V6 tacoma, 4x4, 4 door truck. i love the 23 miles per gallon when i am conservative on the road at 65. it works for me for now, i dont carry anyone else very often, the short bed kinda stinks when you need to move stuff, but i have a older chevy 2500 with the long bed and the 6.0 for hauling when needed. just be aware, the dealerships really love the trucks ( they price them up there ) i am torn on what the next truck might be, kids all grown up, finishing college, but i love my current truck.

I'm on my 3rd one now--a 2013 PreRunner which has 110k miles. Bought it used with 25k on it and all I have done since then is front brake rotors and recently an AC line replacement and charge. It's a 4 cyl auto and a base model-no cruise, no intermittent wipers, etc. Does any and all I need it to do. I'm an old guy and am thinking this will be my last truck as I only drive about 10k per year. If I had to replace it, it would be another Taco for sure.

I had one for a couple months while my primary driver was in for warranty work.

          Two takeaways:

          - I’m a big guy, and mid sized vehicle are just so that mid sized. Hard to get used to when you have always been in full sized.
          - the 4cyl they are putting in them blows.

I don't like the new Tacomas. Wish I still had my 2013 model.

So if I needed another truck I'd look for a 2012-2015

I don't know how big you are but it sucked for me.

New ones aren’t all that. Drove one for a few weeks during a turnaround at work. Very disappointed.

I have a 2021 and overall I like it. However, I’m in the thinking process of buying a full size truck, but plan to keep the Tacoma. How tall are you? I’m 5’10” and bump my head every time I get in the thing.

I have a 2019 TRD SPORT. It is my second 3rd generation Tacoma. It is an awesome truck for us. There are tons of things you can do to customize them! If I were shopping for another Tacoma I would be looking for a 2019 to 2023. Click image for larger version

You better get it programmed if you are coming off an American truck because they are sluggish and weird. Every day since I bought one new I’ve thought about getting rid of it.

                        23mpg 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Personally it has way more cons than pluses.

No programming necessary. Get a Sprint Booster. It's plug and play. Makes a huge difference in acceleration!

I put 200k on a 2009 and now have about 115k on a 2018. It is the perfect size for me. I don’t tow anything bigger than a utility trailer and I almost never have anyone in the back seat. Very capable in 4x4. That being said, from reading reviews I would seriously consider a Frontier if I was buying a new midsize

Anyone here will tell you Programming vs the behind the pedal thingamajigs is night and day different. Program changes pedal delay, shift patterns, and more.

So if you buy a Tacoma, plan on spending $400 for programming to make it the truck its supposed to be. If you drive hills like I do you will be wanting to set it on fire if you don’t!
