I actually agree with deleting a diesel engine. But rather that fight the hassle of clogged emission equipment and the expense, I sold my truck and bought a gasser. I also bought pre-emissions farm tractors. It is almost cheaper to pay the fine if caught doing a delete than keeping some of the equipment operational.

And, the cost now is considerably less than the parts/service later.
A plastic container that had to be created and the DEF contents also created at a plant that I'm sure has some pollutive value to their production.
As far as deleting goes.
Leave to coffee can exhaust tip off and add enough mufflers and you can hopefully get away with it.
My ears are trained to hear a deleted truck, some hide it better than others.
Every time I hear one I smile insideand give it a glance to see what it is.
Starting in 2025 a diesel pick-up will be mail in (or internet?) registration, not even a drive up to the shop anymore.
So there's that in the Pro camp.

Mine randomly sends a code for EGR valve error, so soon it will cost me either way.
As for the comment about the fuel pump, it already exploded and I paid $10K to fix it.
kits are currently being sold from north of the border….

I will never again own a non-deleted diesel truck. Material increase on fuel efficiency and power, increased durability and longevity of engine, no more DEF, and it actually sounds like a diesel again. Finding a shop to do the work can be a bit tricky, but it can be done. I'd recommend visiting muffler and diesel shops in your area in person and talking to them. I don't recommend calling them on the phone as most will play dumb and say they won't do the work.

I read an article in the Denton newspaper that stated 17 counties in Texas will begin Federal Emission testing in 2025. The only real detail I got out of it was any vehicle between 2-24 years old. Does this include diesel cars and trucks or just gassers?Last edited by Radar; 03-12-2024, 02:57 PM.
