    Whitney snake tongs.

Does anyone use these? I thought about ordering me some. I like the design of these snake catchers. I assume they're good quality but I don't know anything about them.

They appear to be very good quality. I have a couple of the Midwest brand ones and they are decent. They tend to gall overtime. So I’ve had to modify them. Just had to take out the pin drill the hole slightly larger.

I thought about the Midwest too. My buddies use those. I don't own a pair myself but I believe the ones I have used were the "Little Giant" catchers. I think that's what they call those. I could have the name wrong.

appear good enough, heck I'm still using homemade snake tongs from the late 60's

I figured they were probably pretty good. I just like the design of these. Some of them are more curved where as the bottom of the Whitney grabbers are flat. They're easier to get in a prairie dog hole which is where I catch most of my snakes. I had a pair of homemade ones that work great in dens but there's not quite enough room in a prairie dog hole to get them over a snake to grab them. It's pretty hard. Sometimes you have to kinda close the catchers and then release the trigger once it's in a prairie dog hole even with the other design. But for the most part they're pretty easy to catch snakes with out of that type of hole.

I don’t know what brand mine are but this is what they look like. I’ve used them for a long time.

I've got a set of the 40" MidWest with the standard jaws. The bottom jaw is flat on the bottom and inside. And has a slight angle up near the hinge, kinda like a golf club head does. But not as abrupt. The top jaw is the only one that moves. The end (or tip) of the lower jaw is rounded down to the outside edge from the inside, downward (one-sided wedge shape) so it is easier to slip under the snake (or anything else). Both features are so it is easier to slip under the snake at an angle, and lift up. When not in my truck, I use mine around the house all the time for picking up very small twigs in the yard, and other very small objects when my back won't let me. You'd be surprised at what you can pick up with them.

We've been using them for over 20 years, and won't use any other brand. Very well built and hold up to a lot of abuse. You won't regret buying them!

I believe those are Pillstrom tongs. From what I can tell that's what they seem like they are based off of the design. There's some cheaper tongs out there " Chinese knock offs" that look a lot like Pillstrom tongs. But they're not something that'd handle a lot of use so I'm thinking yours are made by Pillstrom. Good quality snake catchers.

went on veterans hunt in Uvalde and when guys getting license at very nice store in town I was looking around and literally every boot was a snake boot and they had tubs full of long snake catchers......told them definitely a sign to watch where you step.......I don't live in rattle or copper head country and a rat snake scares me.......

We have a couple of the midwest ones, all the cables are inside the tube, we like that.
