I've never been much of a 12 gauge type of snake hunter myself. Don't get me wrong, I've used one a time or three. It's just not as fun. I like them a little more on the lively side.

I always have a snake grabber with me when hunting. Handy as it gets for getting a dove out of a cactus or other place you don’t want to put your hand. Works on rattlesnakes as well. Grab them and drop them in bucket. Place them in the freezer for a day or two and they cool down real nice.

Heck yes. My buddy is in a wheelchair so it's harder for him to get downed birds. I gave him some of my snake catchers and that's what he gets doves with. His snake catchers are homemade ones. One of the guys that caught the second biggest Diamondback on record in Oklahoma made those.

My buddy that made 'em caught a snake back in 2008 that measured 88".

The Midwest tongs like you have are the best ones for big snakes like that. They're hard to control. They're so strong it's unreal.

I walked for 5 hours out at my buddies lookin for snakes today. Didn't see a one. Drove an hour to check a den on another friend of mines ground and saw one about 12" long. Wasn't worth even picking up. Over all it was a pretty unproductive day. What the heck man. All I did was work up a sweat. I gotta go get me something cold to drink. Holy smokes.

That frickin wind about beat me to death. No wonder I didn't see no snakes. The son of a guns probably blew away.

Heck yeah, that's awesome! I caught a Great Plains Rat Snake yesterday. Didn't see anything else.

What are Rattlesnakes bringing by the pound these days. Last time I caught any was several years ago and they were bringing $9.50 a pound.

I'm not sure how the market is on them but I think around $5 depending on where you go. I've never been but one of my buddies told me Sweetwater pays the most. Which they may but I haven't been to every single snake hunt either. That same buddy used to take snakes to every rattlesnake hunt in Oklahoma, plus the one in Sweetwater.

I’ve got 4 pair of Midwest tongs. From when I was catching lots of snakes. They have been great tongs.

I did end up getting me some Whitney tongs. I like 'em. Seem to be really sturdy built. Caught quite a few snakes with them already.
