Being retired gives me the opportunity to go as much as I want, and I take advantage of it. I easily hunted 40+ days and only have a coyote to show for my efforts. I saw close to 25 different bucks and never chose to kill one due to not being old enough. Killed over 10 pigs last season and never saw a pig during rifle season and only twice during bow season this year (to far away). At 65 years old I actually enjoy going hunting just as much as I did when I was younger and have a much better place to hunt, but the desire to just kill buck or any deer isn`t as important as much as the experience of being in blind on a cold day and enjoy the sun coming up with anticipation of that buck that you`ve always dreamed of. It`s been quite a party.
I’m loving it! I’m still 120 miles away from property so can’t do turn around. Was hoping to get back up here to C S but hasn’t worked out for wife so far as work. I’m 68 and she’s 54 and still working. Kinda sucks.

Uh. I’m hoping that was a good thing? You were seeing deer and opted to let um walk right?

Never boring however I am not mad at the deer anymore and my old body hurts so I about quit last year. No days at all this year.
I’m crediting you for hunts because you’re thinking about it. I’m 68 and starting to feel the same way. I wanted to stay in bed this morning and got to thinking “you’re assuming your gonna be alive this coming bow season and you told your boy you’d take him”. So we’re here in College Station. Going B P in the am. If you don’t already know it, we have a special needs son that is 29. I took it for granted that he would grow up, go to college, get married, and I’d be a grandfather. Didn’t work out that way for him or us. His brain was injured at two years old. Folks, don’t take any day, any loved one, any friend? Or any sunrise or sunset for granted.

I had my cross hairs on my 22-250 on a does neck right at dark, but decided not to shoot. Way too much work to get her out. I probably won't hunt the next 4 days. We are looking at sub zero temps from tomorrow thru Tuesday.

Sat in the bow blind 4 times before I got my buck. Spent every weekend and some weekdays chasing birds after that.

When its dark out haha. I've hunted that much for as long as I can remember, its a routine now where it feels odd to not be in the woods.

I have a newborn so 2 days total. Luckily the first deer I saw opening morning was my target buck.

Fewest in several years--got a doe early in bow season, then another during the Thanksgiving doe season. Only one legal buck occasionally showed up at one place, and another at the other place but only infrequently and mostly at night.

Most of mine was during the rut as well. Saw at least 10 bucks none over 120” and none older than 4. I have to accept that there’s not many , if any, trophy bucks there.
