Eating grits…

I was born in ‘78. I ate what was put on the table, or I did without everything but an *** whoopin. We weren’t poor, but we were a long ways from wealthy. I don’t remember ever seeing a grit at our house, or my grand folks.
I ate plenty of sos, and corned beef hash, and what mom called deer lease taters. My mom is a fantastic cook, we ate chicken fried steak from deer or a steer my grandad killed, and didn’t much ditstinguish between which muscle parts, down to the liver. Most of our vegetables came from the garden.I never heard of a grit until high school, and never saw the need to eat a second helping after the first.
shrimp and grits is awesome…because of the shrimp. Grits alone taste like mush, might as well eat oatmeal.

Grew up eating grits with breakfast and also with fried fish. My great grandmother was from Georgia then moved to South Florida, so everyone on that side of the family was then born and raised in South Florida.
The fried fish and grits is definitely a Florida thing.
I order grits every time they are an option with breakfast still.

I love me some grits!! My Dad was from South Alabama and they were raised on them.....12 kids could eat a lot of grits...lol.
Take a plate, place your grits on it, cover with butter and two or three fried eggs chopped up and mix them together, I put just a spoon or so of sugar and knock it out!!
I love Oatmeal as well, just without the eggs on top.

No I wasn’t poor. Never lacked for any essentials. We were a military family.
Yes I grew up in the sixties.
I ate a sh*t ton of SOS and a lot of hash.
The only reason why anyone likes grits is because of what they put on it.
