I grew up in S. Dallas and we were eating grits back in the 60's. Minus the uncooked egg of course.

I’m from San Antonio and never ate them growing up but both my parents were from up north. I’ve eaten them since then and never really saw the appeal in them unless you added a bunch of stuff to them to make them palatable. Now deep fried? That’s a different story. That makes them taste good but then again, doesn’t that make most things taste good?
On that note though, unless I’m starving, I’ll never eat them again.

Grits are only as good as whatever you put in them. I can’t imagine eating hash browns, or mashed potatoes, and ever wanting grits again.Last edited by Dale Moser; 11-19-2023, 02:26 PM.

They’re not bad with butter, better with eggs, cheese, bacon or whatever your liking is. Now hash browns, they get schooched to the side of the plate so they don’t get mixed in with the goof food.
By all means though, knock yourself out!
