    It's happening all over.

I cannot believe how many people have come by to see if we are hiring since the first of the year.
The economy is still slow and people are just trying to survive. It just happens people like you and I are the ones their selecting to survive off of.
Sorry for your loss, we too have been broken into twice over the past two years

I have noticed. I have also noticed a few more of them getting shot by the home/business owner. I suspect that will increase as well.

Can't survive by stealing. High gas prices don't help...I heard on the radio that approx 10% of people's income goes to gas now...

I heard a bit on tv or radio yesterday that some large city in Kalifornika is no longer going to respond to home alarms unless verified by a witness or some other means outside of alarm company not getting verification on their calls.....much to my dismay, they also mentioned that this is not the first city/town/locale to do this and that there are already and have been, quite a few entities that have already employed this tactic....the stupifying thing I heard was that the town in Kalifornika said it would save them approximately $600k a year....really....so that is like the equivalent of what, less 5 or so homes being cleaned of everything....

it sounds more and more to me like entities not wanting to do what they are in existence to do and more and more like entities trying to keep their largess alive, **** the constituency....

Agree with all. Sad deal after I posted this yesterday I was at Walmart and saw a young mother opening batteries then handing her child them and he was putting them in his diaper... seriously!!!??? I reported it to a manager but nothing was done I watched the lady walked right out of the store. Sad sad sad situations

Needs to be a large spike in homeowners shooting burglars.
I don't care what the burglar/thief's personal excuse is.
If you feel stealing is your last resort because of your circumstances, then you should have no problem feeling that its your last breath too.

The lack of consequences for actions in this country (and around the world for that matter) is the reason for increased crime of all natures.
Time to bring back the consequences and accountability.

I have to admit that it bugs me when I hear someone say " the bad ecomomy makes good people do bad things ". I have known many people that were completely and desperately broke and didnt turn to crime. It is a choice ( at least it is in the usa ). Theft is the most foolish and short term way to "stop being so broke".

Yep, wife had her car broken into at our church during the five minutes she was away from it - the vultures are watching to see when people leave their cars so don't leave anything in view that gives any impression that there's anything of value.

As for the Wal-Mart post about the employees not doing anything to the lady that allowed her child to stuff batteries in his diaper: Lowes and HD quit allowing employees to stop anyone who walked out with merchandise several years ago. All we were allowed to do was ask for a receipt, and if they didn't stop, we weren't allowed to do a cotton pickin' thing...just watch them leave! We were allowed to follow anyone we suspected of being a repeat offender around the store, letting them know we were watching them by our presence, but that was all we could do.

The embarrassing thing to me was having to trail a cousin of mine around...that really sucked! Knowing it's your family who was stealing generators, saws, drills, etc...po'ed doesn't begin to describe what I felt! I simply walked with him, chatting as if nothing was wrong, all the way up until he left the store and quit coming in. I'm sure after I changed jobs, he was probably back in there up to his old habits
