As for Sumlin leaving Houston before the bowl game......it sucks but it happens. That is just part of the deal. Cougar fans need to keep in mind that Sumlin took the UH job in December of 2007. It's just the way it is in college coaching. When you take a job, it's time to go.
The new HC for UH is the OC/HC Levine. He was the second in charge..
Kirby was one of the names floating around for TAMU. So why not UH? We were paying KS 1M and that would get him the stepping stone.. Who knows.

I hope Coach Sumlin is not the next Franchione...Franchione became a hot commodity while at TCU which got him hired at Alabama for about a cup of coffee until we got him and we know what happened then. How did he make his rep at TCU?--LaDanian Tomlinson. Now Sumlin is coming as the new hot coach with what he as done at UH and base on what was posted above, he is making his rep on Keenum. The one thing that Sumlin has over Franchione is that he has coached here before so he knows what to expect as part of the "Aggie family".

I do not believe he would have gone there but have no personal knowledge. He already is making in the $1M range I think. However, I think he is ready. IT is like the quote from Admiral Halsey to Raymond Spruance that if he (RS)could keep up with him all over the Pacific then he was ready for his command.[I understand football is not as important]
Kirby has kept the defense up with what Coach Saban has wanted for years and they on the same page at all times. He is ready for the right job.

But then in 2013 you have them on the road.

Rumors out of Austin that UH has interest in talking with Major Applewhite about their HFC job. UH has become a pretty attractive job now with their recent success, now in a BCS conference (Big East), and right in the middle of some of the best high school football players in the country. It will be a very good job for what coach lands it and the good thing for UH is that it is an attractive position that they should have some good coaches to pick them.

I have heard the schedule may be tweaked beginning in the third year.

I am sure this is the case because that would be a murders row every two years.

If Florida bounces back and Arkansas' success was not a flash in the pan. Then again how often have all four of those teams been great in the same season. It is usually cyclical. Only two at a time seem to be world beaters.
