No idea. Who knows if Sumlin wants him at A&M.

I've heard rumors that Neal Brown has been interviewing elsewhere (which wouldn't disappoint me if he left Tech). I wouldn't mind having Kingsbury back in Lubbock even though I think he is a little bit green for the OC position. I'd take him as our OC if Tubs would agree to leave him the hell alone and let him run the offense and actually call the plays with no interference.

The team needs some swagger and an attitude. I think Sumlin will bring those attributes. He should also be able to recruit really well in Texas. Sherman did a great job assembling the 2012 class. Hopefully Sumlin can hold on to many of them and add his own flavor with the ones that decommit. It wont be easy (first few years in the SEC), but nothing worthing fighting for comes easy. Good luck and Gig Em Coach Sumlin!
I hear you guys on keeping your recruiting class together and I hope that Sumlin can keep it together for you guys. But keeping coaches for the sake of retaining one or two prospects is just plain silly. Get the right coaching staff in place. That is the first priority. If you lose someone then you fill in with someone else. But in the long run, your coach should theoretically be there much longer than any given player.

It has always bugged me that coaches do not honor or play out their contracts. Bobby Petrino signed 3 long term contracts in 18 months a couple of years ago. I have never thought it was fair that coaches where let out of their contracts so easy.

FYI - This is not about A&M or Sumlin, but a general CFB rant.

It all makes sense... I get it.

What I don't get is why would Texas A&M go after Sumlin? Again, 13-1, Non-BCS School, very hot commodity, nice guy, seems to be a good recruiter. All systems, Go? I am not so sure, runs the spread offense. How well is that going to work in the SEC? Good recruiter? Not so sure, next year would have been the telling year, all the recruits are Art Briles recruits. This was the 4th year of Coach Briles' last recruiting class, so next year would have been 100% Sumlin recruits. Would have been nice to see what he could have done with his own guys...

Maybe I am just jealous, because he was really good for our program. Art Briles got it rolling, and Kevin Sumlin kept it moving forward. If I was an Aggie I would question this hire just because below his Sumlin's record with UH...

          Year 1 - (8-5) /// Keenum Full Year
          Year 2 - (10-4) /// Keenum Full Year
          Year 3 - (5 -7) /// Keenum Hurt, Played 3 Games
          Year 4 - (13-1) /// Keenum Full Year

Anyone who watched Keenum play realized that he was a special player, and carried our team. When he was hurt, we were toast. Was Sumlin's record more a result of his coaching ability, or Keenum's right arm? Last Year, we struggled without him, and none of the other QB's (Broadway or Piland) filled in adequately. Both Sumlin recruits...

Again, probably just jealously thinking out loud!!!

Last point, why can a recruit be penalized for transferring from school to school but a coach cannot? If Dale Moser signs with UT and decides is Sophmore year he wants to be an Aggie, he has that right, but he also gets to sit for a year. If Coach Sumlin decides he wants to be an Aggie, again he has that right, he can jump ship mid-stream, and leave a whole team playing for an Interim Coach in their bowl game? I understand Texas A&M is paying him now, and they want him recruiting in the name of the Aggies, but it just doesn't seem right. Why would a University want a Coach who would do this? What if Sumlin has 3 or 4 good years in College Station, and some program like OU, Penn State, Florida, Alabama, or another big name program comes knocking. He has already proved that he would jump ship. If you were a recruit would you play for that Coach? Loyalty is a big deal to me, and if you commit to something finish it. Coach your bowl game, win it for the kids who have played their hearts for you, then move on!!!

I hope it works well for everyone in Aggieland, I really like Kevin Sumlin, and I hope he is able to do some good things with the program their too!!!
Well he's coaching at ATM now, so he'll be the best coach in the country for the next two years regardless, and the worst that ever walked the following 2 years.

I never mentioned keeping any of the current coaches just to keep the recruits in the fold. I agree, Sumlin needs the lattitude to assemble his own staff. He wont keep every kid as many are attached to their area recruiter or position coach. Many of them wont be around in the coming weeks and some recruits will move on.

Yeah, I know that I quoted you and that wasn't exactly pointed towards your comment. I just read your statement about keeping recruits and it reminded me to address earlier comments. Wasn't directed at you. Sorry.

Thanks for clarifying RdRdrFan. I just hope we made a good decision. I would initially have liked to make a "splashier" type of hire, but we are who we are. We have lots to offer, but have been a major disappointment for every year except two since 1998. Sumlin will have a lot to offer elite level recruits who want to test their skills at the highest level. He needs to change the entire culture around Aggie Football. The mens basketball program has done it. Lord knows they use to be HORRIBLE!

Don't forget the women's basketball team either. They used to stink too. They did ok last year!

True! And Baseball went to Omaha. And Track and Field have won three National Championships in a row. And softball and soccer win consistently as well! But that gosh darn football team just sucks the will to live out of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on SUMLIN!!!!!!!! FYI - I have already assumed the fetal position for our first year in the SEC (and maybe our second). We gonna get prison raped!

Watched the presser. I like him so far....he's very excited to be coaching there. I think he will tear recruiting up in Texas and will hopefully secure all the work Sherman already did. Sounds like he is gonna hit the recruiting trail asap while other coaches are prepping for their bowl games.
