Awesome. I can't decide if I want to see pics or not. On one hand, I love it and would love to see what's going on with your hunt. On the other hand, it will make these last nine days pass by even more slowly. haha

Had an encounter with a 5x5 and a spike this morning. no shooters . I heard one distant bugle last night. Other than that they are quiet. Snaped a pic with my phone of a group on the way out. I will try to post it.

Nothing tonight. We have a few places we are hunting some private. Some in the forest. As hot as it is we are hunting mornings and evenings. The moon is bad and we havent found any good water holes. We may cut this trip a little short so we can have more time later in the season.

Just got out of the woods and headed back in tonight.
Had a six point bull with thirteen cows that I worked Tuesday morning, could only get to one hundred twenty eight yards before cows winded me above timberline. That bull bugled all night long. I did give him a challenge bugle after they busted me and he came another fifteen yards to me bugling at me. That was exciting this early in season.

Had three bulls spotted this morning that I lost in dark timber. I know I had them within a couple hundred yards but they would not respond or come in.

Smart move. I know we all get excited about gettin up in the mountains and chasing elk, but normally the last week of the season is the best.

Yup. I have always hunted late in the season and preach it too but I wanted to break it up a little this year. I have been working harder and longer days this summer and needed a break. I did not put alot of stock into this trip just more of a get away.
Hunting elk in these conditions is not easy or alot of fun but it beats the heck out of working. Wish me luck. Headed out to hunt!
