Kale is awesome, too. The papaya and parsley are super foods and pack a TON of the good stuff, but take getting used to. I was making a batch every 2 days and that was all I would consume. I was pretty religious about it for a month or so, and lost over 25#. However, I've become a little lax lately and juice about once a week right now (if that at times) and am slowly putting it back on. My willpower is pretty low. Reading this thread has gotten me all excited about it again and I'm back on it tomorrow. This just after I put a good bit of my kid's halloween candy away tonight. YIKES!
How much does this make? Would this be one meal?
I have not seen the movie yet, sorry if this is a dumb question.
That's a pitcher full (2+ quarts). I usually get several meals out of that. I like to drink about 6 glasses a day. Usually makes enough for a full day and a half, sometimes 2 days worth. I have a juicer so I get less than most. Emulsifiers will tend to yield more because of the pulp.
Whatched the show, 2 hours later I ordered a 'Breville juice fountian plus' through E Bay. I did good untill we started using veggies like radish and kale. Stay with the starter recipes for a couple of weeks then work your way up.
Keep up the good work guys! John, great update as usual.
Today was rather hard for me. The Kale really isn't sitting to well for me and I am having a hard time with it. Like John, I too am finding that this diet is kind of a diuretic. Lots of bathroom stops on the road today.
Day two was rather hard for me. Driving through La with all of the chicken and Cajun places was difficult. But, in the end, I made it work. I haven't weighed yet but will check it this weekend. Since I wasn't eating horribly before starting this reboot, I'm not sure if I'll see the same results John has had. But, the cleansing will be a god thing one way or the other.
Todd I am glad you said that about the Kale. Although it was better today I was trying to trick myself into thinking it was better. I am gonna lay off the kale for a while it is pretty rough stuff. I am gonna try spinach. How was the spinach?
You get used to the kale, I promise. Just use smaller amounts to at first, then work your way up. Same way with the papaya and parsley, but the benefits are huge. Stick with it. Made my batch this evening after work. Added some mango and it sure is delicious. I'll keep up with it this time, promise.
Spinach isn't bad. I hear that mustard is good too and ads a little spice. I want to try bell peppers sometimes, and also want to try cabbage. I hear that cabbage doesn't have a lot of nutrients though, so it would be more of a filler.
I don't plan to give up completely on Kale because it has a lot going for it, but I'll have to take it in smaller doses. I haven't tried adding Mango yet, but I bet it's good!
Ron, keep up the good work and let us know how it goes.
I am on the road until tomorrow so no homemade stuff for me today. I had the Odwalla Mango Tango, all natural smoothie this morning and it was quite good. For lunch I will have the second half of my Odwalla Superfood. Dinner, probably more of the same.
Seems a little easier today. No headache and I feel like I have plenty of energy!
