On my Safari, the Zebra hunt was the most difficult. My PH and I spot and stalked the herd over half a day. Want made it the most fun was the Zebras were hanging with a herd of Bontebok which have the senses of the Whitetail, and when the Bontebok would run the Zebra would run as well. Made a beautiful rug in our trophy room.Last edited by Crash; 10-28-2011, 08:56 AM.

to me if i shoot something I will be proud of it even if it's a rabbit. I don't have any desire to shoot a Giraffe, But some of those others i may consider just depends on how the hunt was and the ranch. We post up pictures of HF deer we shoot on here so what makes it any difference any where else. I support any means of hunting as long as it's legal. just because i may not agree with it doesn't make it wrong as so many others have said.

The food, employment, and financial investment associated with hunting in Africa often represents a large component of these countries' GDP. Many of these countries have limited infrastructure/growth, little to no employment opportunity and thousands of protein deprived people. The hunting industry provides all of these things to individuals.
I have been fortunate to hunt in Africa for a total of 107 days (7 trips) in 4 different countries. I have killed 42 large animals repesenting 18 species including plains game, buffalo, elephant, leopard and hippo, and not one was wasted. Either the clients, staff or locals ate some portion or all of these animals. This often included entrails and bones.
The money I spent and/or gifted to the operators, staff and families was put to use in many ways. These employees used it to buy essentials for their children, put food on the table, and pay for family members to go to school. The operators/owners used it to pay rents, perform improvements on the property and employ other individuals (professional hunters, trackers, game scouts, camp managers, cooks, maids, mechanics, anti-poaching security teams). How can that be "pointless"?
Lastly, I received priceless memories with friends and family doing something we all love and have a passion for. How can that be "pointless"?
I strongly encourage you to become more informed and educated about this topic before exposing your ignorance via poorly thought out ponderings and judgemental statements.

I know nothing about hunting africa. he asked. you WONT even give an answer.
What do YOU do with the meat? What do THEY do with the meat. I guess maybe this is a killer vs hunter thing. you go to africa to say you KILLED a girafe? I hunt to put meat on my familys table? is it that sort of deal? whos ego is bigger? I dont know never done it or associated with the types that do.
Now what I just said maybe could be taking as bad mouthing. I am not as well off as you and cannot yet afford to go to africa for a hunt. SO, the best thing I can do is wonder what really happens. Then when people respond and are not willing to share what really goes on and what happens with meat ect. Maybe I dont care to associate with those types anyway...

I have no problem with people who hunt whatever, as long as it is not in a"pen, but my idea of a pen may be different than your idea of a pen. I just hope to get to africa someday for a hunt. I dont think I would shoot a zebra, giraffe or ele, but I do not have issues for those who do.
With that being said, what about all the predetor hunters. have you ever shot a bobcat or coyote? did you eat it? I am lucky I guess, i have a pair of friends who will take any type of meat off my hands, one has a big cat and the other runs a reptile sanctuary (large carniverous lizards). That way I knoe the meat will not be wasted.
I also went to wyoming last year for a muley/antelope hunt. we donated the meat, is that bad?
Not trying to bash you here, but do think about what and who you are implicating before you start a thread, and how it is worded. It can get out of hand fast
