Honest answer?? There is nothing you can do.

When chiggers bite you, they release an enzyme that acts like "meat tenderizer" (the cells of your skin are effectively dying for 5-7 days), and the itch is actually an auto-response to what would be PAIN if it was a larger area that was injected with the same enzyme.

Put a lot on your hands and scrub your legs up good. Let it set for about 5 min an then rinse it off. It will kill them and the cool menthol will really ease the irritation.

^^^^^There you go. Best thing to do is spray your legs and boots heavy with Off before going in the woods. Only trick I know and hate it when I forget it.

I've used Campho-Phenique (find it in the medicine aisle - green and yellow box) and dip some q-tips into it and do that for a couple of days and it has worked well. I've also heard lamp oil/ petroleum works, but I'm not interested in letting that seep into my skin.

                                Don't use bleach...

Salt add water, make a paste and gently rub down the effected areas... If you have them really bad go get a cortisone shot!
