Y'all are going to laugh at this one but works good for both chigers and fire ants. Preparation H, it will stop the itching quick. No BS.

They are already gone, itch relief is what you are looking for now, If fingernail polish keeps you from scratching then use it. Use a preventative bug spray instead. Chigger rid helps with the itch, Benadryl, ...etc.

Have your wife tape your hands to the recliner so you can't scratch.

As stated before, they do not burrow or penetrate the skin, so there is nothing to "kill or smother" once you have a bite. What we know as chiggers are an immature stage of development of a mite, the adults eat plant material. They lightly attach at thin point on the skin and release digestive enzymes that form a tube, picture a well. Then they consume the liquified contents of the tube. This process continues for several hours. The longer they are on you the longer the tube gets. As a defense your body encapsulates and hardens the tube and fights it like any other foreign material, that's why it itches so bad. Prevention is the best solution. If you think you have been in contact, wipe down your sensitive areas with a wet wash cloth (this knocks them off easily and they are only capable of feeding once) and get out of the clothes you were wearing within a couple hours to lessen the damage. Scratching causes secondary Infection and increases itchiness, so anti itch remedies are good. Anything else is folk lore.

                You need three things.

                1. Lighter Fluid

                2. Match

                3. Ice Pick

Liberally apply lighter fluid to affective area and let it soak in for a few minutes. Than light with match. After lit, use ice pick to put out fire

                Guaranteed, instant relief

That's not a problem. You just need a longer hose.

Bleach bath is only way to go. It does take some of your tan away, so go easy on it.

Tink's 69. Cover your entire body in it. Then go hunt the rut. Works great.

Using clear nail polis is actually just a myth. It does nothing because the chiggers do not burrow into the skin, they attach themsleves to the skin and release an enzyme. As soon as you scratch the itch it removes the chigger so no need for bleach or any other of these home remedies.

bleach works great before you have the sores

once you do you'll need to endure and use chiggerex
