Where to move to in Houston area?

Ok folks, I have never been a huge fan of the Houston area, especially growing up out west. But a business opportunity may be coming up for me next year in the Houston area. I won't have to live in Houston proper, but be close enough to get to the airport in a couple hours for international flights. I have a few friends in the Katy area, which would be on the way home anyway. Love to fish and duck hunt also, if that helps. Any suggestions? It may not pan out at all, but want to start looking if it does.

it depends on where you work. i work in Katy and live in Tomball. takes me about 45-55 minutes to go from I-10 to Tomball and vice versa taking Barker cypress.

depends on where you will be working. waller isint bad if you want land but if you are looking for a house in a subdivision look in cypress, tomball, katy, or spring.

We moved to the Katy area (actually a Richmond address), 4 years ago and love it.

If we were to do it again, I think we'd go a little farther out, like the Fulshear area.

If a couple of hours to the airport is your criteria, the options are almost endless. I am in the Beaumont area and can get to Bush Intercontinental in about 90 minutes. I'm not suggesting living in that area but two hours from IAH is a fairly wide set of options.

                      Kingwood -
                      20 minutes to IAH airport
                      30 minutes to downtown
                      10 minutes to Lake Houston
                      1 hour to Lake Livingston
                      1 hour to Lake Conroe
                      1 1/2 hour to Galveston

FYI - Casey has a great house for sale there.

I wouldn't live anywhere near that place. If 2 hours is your limit then you don't even need to get close to it. I live in Centerville and can be in either Houston or Dallas in two hrs. I work in Houston 8-9 days a month and being there even just that much will drive you crazy. Me anyway.

I live in Friendswood. Bout the only place I like on the s.e. side. Conroe, The Woodlands, Spring, Cy-Fair, Katy and Sugarland are nice. But check out a little place right outta Katy between there and Sugarland. Lilttle place called Fulshear. You might like it.

+1 to this... I'm moving to kingwood this weekend... found a townhome right on the sanjacinto river, in a quiet, woodsy, out of the way part of the area...

New Caney and Porter have some nice parts as well, more "small townish"

Tomball is nice, Cypress is ok, depending on what part you go to. Beware schools. I live in Klein now, its fair.
