He who swings first goes to jail. I grew up with LEOS for dad and uncles and I aint stupid. I never touched a guy first, I cant say I didnt antagonize them a lil by grinning or winking or something non verbal when they started acting like that just to rile them up enough. Now watch for the right and as soon as he swings your defending yourself then you stomp a mudhole in him

FYI Its just a game and who cares!!!!!! Half the reason I dont play anymore the LIL MAN wish I was a pro ex college baseball players and the drinking.

Humper, you realize I was being sarcastic to the poster you quoted above me?

I was pointing out the fact it was horrible advice. I have no problem if you want to remain silent, but telling him to lie about drinking when he was the one making the complaint.... isnt going to help make him look like the good guy.... when hes claiming he was the good guy. Just sayin

And your right, Im not an attorney...and I dont tell people to lie. I actually spend most of my time trying to get through all the lies to find the truth.

I wish I wouldnt have even posted...Back to lurking on these types of threads. I know better.

If you choose to speak to a cop and don't mind telling him/her that you have been drinking, go right ahead. And deal with whatever fallout may come of it.

Me - no thanks. I'm not giving anyone anything to use against me.

What's more important to you? Sounds like you came close to going to jail. I'm surprised after 3 hours of trying to sort this out the cops didn't take someone to jail.

A "disagreement" over a judgement call on the part of the umpire (he's paid to make judgement calls) during a softball GAME is not the kind of thing I would want to go to jail over. It already resulted in ALOT of wasted time by you, the umpire(s), and the police.

              Is it really worth pursuing?

I've umpired for years, but I don't call adult/industrial/beer leagues for many of the reasons that have already been discussed. I've seen a lot of guys who'll umpire any game, anytime: A) for the money B) it makes them feel important and they sometimes get to ruin someone's day & C) they just really like the game.
There are plenty who do it strictly for the money, and that's their business. Unfortunately, there are way fewer in the "C" category, especially when it comes to adult leagues, than there are in the "B" group. Your guy sounds like a perfect example of this type. I've been the scheduler/UIC for a few leagues thru the years, and a guy like him, wouldn't be getting any more game assignments from me, if I had to clean up after him more than a couple of times. Why he's still even umpiring there, after previously laying hands on someone (I took it that he was the instigator), is beyond my comprehension.

I wouldn't tell him, I would show him!
