its softball and i've seen these situations before. leagues that allow alcohol will continue to have this type of play. #1 reason for me leaving a sport i love.

Sounds like a softball park in my area. I would probably find somewhere else to play. Just isn't worth it.

X2.......your only other option is to wear his arse out next time, and that won't end up good. Most likely you will be sitting in jail with a sore face or a sore hand

I know i have to pick my battles but all that was said to the umpires was, "hes off the bag." It was a close play at 2nd the guy was safe and he thought he was and began walking back to the dugout. Our guy tags him and said hes off the bag and that was what started this.

nothing you could do will be worth the effort at this point.

Take from this the experience you learned, and either A)don't hesitate to knock the guy on his ***** while defeding yourself.. or B)call the police immediately while all your witnesses are still there.

It does not matter what started it. What matters is far it goes, and who ends up in the hospital or jail. So what if the ump blows a call in a city league game?? You got money riding on the outcome? Do you play the game for money and it was going to affect your bonus??

IMO this will not get any better until someone pops this hot head umpire and the fight breaks out. Do you really want it to be you that starts the mayhem??

I'm not one to retaliate, so its not like I'm out to get anyone what happened happened, I just don't like how this all rolled out. When I told the officer what happened, I said honestly if I was in your shoes this story would be hard to believe, his response was "no, I play out here too and I totally understand." My concern is for the next guy who may get screwed. I understand it softball, I never argue about the calls, I could honestly care less about playing.

if you want the police there, it's much better if you are the one to call.

but now, it's time to let it go.

but then again, grown men drinking and playing a girl's game are just asking for trouble (ducking)

The umpire wouldn't happen to be a McCoy?

                      Reference to your user name

Let it go and get on down the road

A wise old man told me once that if you want to stay out of bar fights...stay out of bars. I think that translates to this situation as well.

All I can say is maybe tell the umpire (in private) if he ever touches you again it wont be good. Then, let it go.

Always remember, he who calls 911 first is always labeled the victim.

This is why there are terms like "softball guy" and "likes to fight guy"
