Being an SEC fan I think it will be a positive for them. They now have 3.5 ranked teams in the schedule (Missouri will not be around in the end therefore the .5). Most of the other SEC teams have 6 or 7 each year. This will really ramp up their level of play and really help recruiting. It will also help games viewed in Texas which will minimize my trip across the Sabine River to watch SEC games. If it doesn't work out, then the SEC will just have another Vandy!

Keep in mind that all the schools in the Big 12 voted (including Texas A&M) for no conference game, the 10 team league, and the revenue sharing aspect. There is no coloration between a league not having a conference championship game (Pac 10 and Big 10). The Big 12 was not going anywhere with the new TV contract in place.
We can disagree on the health of the Big12 but some people weren't happy obviously). You can blame A&M all you want but NONE of this would have happened if Nebraska stayed. All your points are valid so there must be something that you and I both don't know.

The Big 12 got a new billion dollar TV contract.
The have no conference championship game (better for teams wanting to win a National Title).
Teams can add another home game (OOC) and make more money.
I don't see where Nebraska had any thing to do with making Texas A&M make the jump to the SEC. Nebraska thought they would be the 1 or 2 dominate program like they where in the Big 8 and once they realized they where irreverent in the Big 12 they wanted to exit ASAP and found a home in the Big 10.

Texas will go the way Notre Dame did when they were good and let their ego get in the way . I predict in a few years Texas will be losing Blue Chip Texas players to A&M and A&M will be better than Texas because of The SEC . For what it is worth , I am a Jayhawker , It will be interesting to watch where a Jayhawker takes the A&M Basketball program now

i do think we need to be realistic, if the aggies cant run the table in the big 12 there is no chance at all they will run the table in the SEC, they may want to move to the mountain west or big east in order to make that a reality, and i agree nebraska moved to a weaker conference to have a better shot at the national championship

You are pointing to alot of facts but ignoring others....
Facts:
When Nebraska left there was unrest....
The breakup talk happened and the big schools going to PAC 10....
A&M did not want to go to the PAC 10.....
A&M was going to the SEC and tech could now go...
Beebe got everyone to stay with a promise of lots of money.....
ESPN made an unprecedented invested in Texas.....
There was still unrest....
We are were we are. I agree that the only logical explanation is that A&M wants the national exposure of the SEC. That may or may not happen. Who knows the outcome but it all started with the initial breakup talk. If that wouldn't have happened, none of this would have.
I am done arguing about this though....you may know more than me.Last edited by Wulver; 08-30-2011, 09:08 AM.

Originally posted by Burntorange Bowhunter; The funny thing is the Aggies are now saying we are whining about them leaving when all we have heard for years is them whining about Texas being the big dog and calling all the shots...then the LHN comes along anf the whining goes up ten notches and the Aggies take their toys and leave.

Aw come on man, quit nitpicking. There is nothing wrong with what I said. It is just what happened.Last edited by Burntorange Bowhunter; 08-30-2011, 09:20 AM.

Listen I am done with this and I am not really enjoying this conversation anymore because it has derailed from what I started. I started the thread as a heartfelt goodbye and all the other jokers have turned it into the same old argument.
Its not welcome on my thread and if you think A&M sucks then go to the A&M sucks thread. If you think that Texas isn't the top dog in this state and A&M is better go to the Texas sucks thread. If you want put aside your differences and admit that we could lose something special, say goodbye, and remember the good times POST UP!

What is the real reason Texas if I stand corrected?
My initial thought is with A&M hanging at the mid to bottom of the barrel in the SEC, they will not qualify for what you have listed above in blue.
