SEC wanted to avoid a lawsuit from the Big 12 so they declined to send an invitation. Now that A&M has sent notice to the Big 12 and will pony up the withdrawal fee, SEC should offer an invite. I can't imagine Bowen going through this process if he didn't have insurance from the SEC, but I could be wrong.

The Big 12, including Texas A&M, agreed to a 13-year television deal with Fox Sports in April worth more than $1 billion. There is a chance the contract could be voided if the Aggies leave the conference, which could lead to legal issues for Texas A&M and its new league.

I wonder how much this cost outside of the; Exit Fee, that has not been negotiated based on the NY Times article?

Hey if yall want to turn it into this then let it get whacked. I was just stating several things now that it is official:

I liked the years in Big12
Lots of good memories especially after Bonfire fell
The bitterness should end and wish us luck

I honestly can't think of a reason Texas would not want to play A&M. It's not Texas' rival because OU is, Texas needs a decent opponent or two out of conference to make their schedule National Champinship worthy (this is in the wake of Nebraska, CU and A&M leaving,)fans can travel to home and away games, 115 year or so tradition, State braging rights and as Texas fans would have you to believe it's not 50/50 or so over the last 30 years - the entire 115 year series is lopsided in Texas favor so an easy win.

The only reason I can think of is out of spite for A&M's departure of the Big 12.

What is the real reason Texas if I stand corrected?

It is a shame, some of my fondest memories are playing against ATM, I haven't missed a game at the Jones or at Kyle Field since 98. I will miss this game dearly...

              Wreck'Em!

I was somewhat pessimistic at first about the move, but after hearing 6 months of trash talk, I am ready to go. This is our chance to shine and let the world see just what A&M can do, should be a season of epic proportions. Thanksgiving will be the loudest, most intimidating atmosphere in years. Lets start with smu and work our way to the SEC!

According to Beebe and Dodds, the conference will be fine w/o A&M. BYU steps right in and brings in a broader TV market.

No more T-day game!! Lot's of people been through the big D on here. I have one question for them. After the divorce is/was final did you continue to...well...have relations with your ex? I'm guessing not and this is no different. Why would Texas go out of there way to let ATM have there cake and eat it too? That would make no sense. I would be very surprised if any Texas team still in the "Big XII" gave ATM the time of day on ANY athletic field. Good luck and good bye.

Maybe, but 5 of the top 10 schools the last two seasons in the recruiting class rankings were SEC schools. One Big 12 college, one Big 10 college, one ACC college, one Independent college and one PAC 10 college. I don't put too much thought into these "rankings" but it is something to measure and yes I believe based on their recent domination of the BCS title game appearances that kids do want to play in the SEC and get that exposure so they can get drafted high and spend all their money as quickly as possible!

Why would Texas get rid of a storied rivalry (not saying that OU isn't more storied) that has been around for this long? Notre Dame or any other school would pale in comparison to keeping the game as it is.

Hopefully the move will improve A&M's recruiting, any elite HS football player would like the opportunity to showcase his talents in the SEC. But until their program turns around, A&M will the Iowa State of the SEC - it's gonna be a little rough for a while.

You wouldn't mind the ex as long as she didn't talk and spend the night. So why not keep up the game, it's not like they have to wake up next to each other on T+1.

Brass is blowing smoke... I don't see it going away.

Legislature will get involved if the two side can't agree. Great, another BS law.

I know all of the up and down statistics in this series. Blame it on the war, etc.. The fact is they would have to win 38 in a row just to get even.

The series staying alive benefits Texas more than A&M with the pending move... (Period)
