Up at 3:30 am with a tooth ache!

Have an abscess tooth whipping my *** tonight! Well, technically for the last 6 days now!! I can get about 1.5 hrs to 3 hrs of sleep and then I HAVE to get up and take something. Dentist says there's nothing I can do but wait for the antibiotic to take effect and take pain meds but I'm sick of it! I haven't slept over 3 hours straight since last Sunday and it SUCKS! I mean I ain't talking about a lil tooth ache, I'm talking about a roll out of bed and hit your knees make a grown man wanna cry PAIN. It's one tooth but feels like my whole face is hurting!
Okay, sorry for the boo-whooing. On the bright side, I'm already wide awake when my 3 yr old lil boy wakes up at at his normal 5:00am every morning! lol

    Is this a rant?!

You have any BC powder? Put it directly on the tooth and let it set there for a lil while. If you don't have any, crush up a couple of aspirin.

I had the same problem on the 7th day went back to dentist and told him to pull the darn thing out now. that was a bad idea apparently when your tooth is absest what ever they use to numb your mouth doesn't work. Mine was a molar so he had to cut the tooth in half then pull the halves. After cutting the tooth in half he saw my eyes watering ask me did I fell that(the cutting of my tooth) told him yes sir every second of it. He had an ohh s.... look on his face and said well this is really reall going to hurt then. That was by far the most painfull thing I have ever gone through I have broken bones in both arms took a line drive to the face pitching had kidney stones and that all has nothing on getting a tooth pulled with no numbing.

You could always grab an ice skate and knock it out. Sheeesh, Tom Hanks did it so you should have no problem. Take pics tough.
Hope it gets better for ya man, those tooth aches suck.

Always look on the bright side; at least you have teeth.

Feel for you brotha. I know I need to get myself over to the dentist soon before my tooth gets worse. But no, I'll prob wait till it gets bad before I go. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Don't put aspirin directly on the gum tissues around the affected area !! All that does is burn the tissues and slows the healing process. Pain meds orally . For some relief get a cup of warm water (as warm as a regular cup of coffee) and disolve 2-3 teaspoons of table salt in it.

Sip the salted water and hold it in your mouth over the area. As it cools and reaches body temperature, spit it out and repeat the process. This will sooth the inflamed area and try to drain the infected pus from the abcess.
Give the antibiotics time. They need to knock down the infection and change the pH of the tissues so the anethisetic will work when the extraction is done.

I am not a doctor, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn. ( Navy Oral Surgery Dental Tech 4 years)

I feel your pain. Been there and done that. I think a toothache has to be the worst. I used the saltwater remedy and it seemed to help along with the antibiotics and pain meds. It is true that the novicaine doesn't work when the area is inflamed and infected. I had a root canal on a tooth that wouldn't numb after 9 days of antibiaotics. I cried like a little girl during that. About halfway through the doc injected some novicaine directly into the nerve which helped.

try pinching your earlobe on the side of the infected tooth-hard. if it helps, you can keep the relief by putting a clothes pin on the lobe. it doesn't always help, but often it does.
