while implants are the gold standard(apropos to the price of gold btw), there are still other options including a fixed bridge(requires destroying teeth on either side) and a removable partial(can be lost) which doesn't destroy any other teeth. a question for the experts-do implants require meticulous flossing/cleaning and if so, what does the jawbone look like when patients act like my old ones did?

Temp and permanent bridges were given to me as an option but not until after the infection is gone. A single implant was never offered.
Still Hurting in a bad way along with a massive headache. I have one day left of antibiotics so I'm going back to the dentist in the morning or asap. Surely he can give me a shot or something to speed the healing of this obviously bad infection!? Never had it take a full week for antibiotics to work...

You have to remove the source of the infection which is usually the decomposing nerve in the tooth (root canal). If the tooth is to badly decayed, extracting may be the only option. Please don't just say take it out. Other teeth shift and other problems arise. At the same time, don't blow alot of money trying to save a badly broken down tooth with a poor long term prognosis. I would be happy to talk if you want.

Cuz...there could be a strand of bacteria the penicillin is unable to keep at bay and its getting worse...just gotta get somewhere to get that sucker out (unless its saveable of course and root canal is possible)...good luck

Man like I said before it took getting to the infection (root canal in my case) and getting it open and treated from the tooth side to make the pain go away fully. It sounds like you have not had any work done to the tooth yet? It may continue to hurt for a long time if you don't get it opened and treated. I am not a dentist but am speaking from my experiences is all...good luck, no one should have to go through this kind of pain!

Called my dentists "emergency number" hour ago. Says he'll get me in at open and drain it then get me on a new antibiotic. Don't think that's gonna fly...
