    DING!! lightbulb!

I had a lightbulb go off while we were eating dinner My family has had a large piece of land in Rhome for over a hundred years. Its basically all field with a creek running through the middle. Well, we had been planning on purchasing a place a few years after i get out of college and turning it into a hunting ranch, what i have dreamed of doing since my uncle Barry passed. I was thinking, heck we already have land why not start planting some trees out there and see if it will fill in! It would be alot cheaper than buying a large ranch. What are yalls thoughts? Am i crazy or could this stuff really happen

I guess if you are worried about housing it would depend on how big your place is

exactly what mom said, " if they buy it you will have enough money to buy a ranch anywhere"

You're young Sippy, too young to worry about something like that happening. Get you a good map and start planning what to do with it. What to plant and where. Get a dibble and learn how to use it...it's not hard. You won't be planting until later. Call your County Forester and see what they suggest. Also there are some good Master Tree Farmer courses you can take. This will be fun for you and after Smart and CB have it analyzed no telling how good it will look. And remember the great thing about trees is they grow 24 hrs. a day, if they get water.

You'll be glad you did it.

you must have some magic plants, things don't grow that fast. Rephrase, plants of quality that you actually want on your place don't grow that fast.
In another 20 years it might be perfect.

Your trees are not gonna grow fast enough for you to get any real use out of them anytime soon and you will have to plant a ton of trees to give the animals any cover at all. Great idea, but I think your dad would of needed to plant those trees 10-15 years ago.
