I have the hammerheads with the grey 400p lense. I love them, used to be a cheap sunglasses buyer, but these are worth the money.

But will it send shards of glass in my eye? Cause the dealer I bought from seem pretty confident I did not have to worry about shards of glass in my eyes for what I use them for. I am sure they can not with stand a flying rock, however dirt clods, grass clipping, and dust I feel would not be to big a concern. I do know they are not OSHA approved safty glasses and do not expect them to perform like them. But for my use should I be worried?

I can guarantee you that an 1/8 ounce worm weight coming back off a missed strike in shallow water can shatter a pair of Costa Del Mar glass. I can also guarantee you that I have returned two pair to have the broken glass repaired.

The real question is why take a chance with glass when you can use poly carb? They have 580 poly carb now.....

That being said, I doubt you'll have a problem with grass clippings. I'd be more concerned with weedeating or cutting limbs if you are counting them on being "safety glasses"

Yep, use to buy all my sunglasses at the gas station...till I tried on a pair of Costa's and had to have them. This is the only pair of quality sunglasses I have ever had in my life and love them.

x2... you have to try them on to know which frame. As far as lens color, that is tough, but trying them on and what type of use (everyday, drivers, bay, off-shore, etc.) will help in deciding. As said, the 580 lens is the latest and very nice.

Its what I have man. Had them for years. I guess we all need to throw away our current glasses and get the new 580 poly carb now. Cause other wise we could be sending glass in our eyes while fishing. Or could it be that the manufacture of eye glass glass has taken precautions to keep shards of glass into our eyes when accidents happen.

Look Smart, it has really nothing to do with costas, or sun glasses. You are just a loud mouth. Anything I say you will have a smart remark. Which is fine. You dont phase me. This is the internet dude.

My apoligies to the OP for this thread getting turned into a pissing contest.

The lenses in Costa glasses are actually "baked" into the frame, so essentially the frame and lenses are one piece. I have been told by the costa rep that the lenses is designed to spider crack, not shatter. I have never seen a pair shatter, nor has my costa rep. That being said, I think if you hit any lenses hard enough it may shatter. I wear my costa's when I mow my lawn if that tells you anything.

I think the best everyday glass is the green mirror 580. You can wear them in almost any weather condition and they aren't to dark. I have Wave Killers but Hammerheads will be my next purchase.

Actually it has everything to do with glass lenses and costas. I asked a question because your wealth of misinformation could lead somebody to believe that they could use their glass lenses for safety glasses. I never said for you to sell you glasses or change them...I just suggested that using glass lenses for safety glasses wasn't a good idea.
