Whoohoo! Thanks for this thread guys. I had received a letter saying they were processing mine and go to this website to check. I stuck it on my desk and forgot until I saw this thread. I just checked and it says it has been mailed! I mailed my paperwork on March 14th, so about a little over 2 months.

Yessir, just saying that they had received my app and giving www.texas.gov to check the status. Letterhead was Texas Department Of Public Safety Regulatory Services Division. All you need is DL#, SS#, and birthdate to check on the status. Got the letter about 5 weeks after I mailed the PW.
I knew about the status page to check before I even took the course... been checking it since day one... but I never got a physical letter telling me they got my stuff.. first i heard of anyone getting one... odd.
My wife and daughter are about to take their CHL and I was going to have them use S&W .38 special hidden hammer airweights for the test. A guy I talked to this weekend said they should take the test with semi-auto because if they took the test with a wheel gun they could only carry wheel guns, but if they took it with a semi-auto they could carry either...this makes no sense to me...was he misinformed?

absolutely true.
Two different classifications to the CHL...
Revolver and Semi-Auto.. (All guns are covered under the semi-auto.).
It took about 6 weeks. It took my wife almost a year do to the point that she has no finger prints.
She finally had to have our instructor call the director and get a letter from the lady that does the finger printing over at the Fort Worth PD saying that the 3 sets of prints she did was as good as it got. They finally sent her license. It is different for different people. But if you don't have it in 90 days start making calls.
I sent all my paperwork in about a month ago for my renewal and am sitting at "Under Reveiw" right now. I'm OK with that, just wanted to make sure I didn't let it expire!

Dang yall got urs quick when I did mine it took nearly a year to finally get my lic. Every time I called they said they were really backed up. Wich sucks because it took a year off my expiration date. So instead of 5 years I got 4 years which is stupid.. needless to say I was so pist off.
