Another Texas CHL question

How long did ya'lls CHL background check stay "under review". Most people I hear waited around 1-2 weeks tops. Mine has stayed there for 3 weeks now. I submitted all required paperwork on Mar 24th. It took 4 weeks before it showed that the application was received. It's now been another 3 weeks and no change. Is this normal? Seems like it would only take a few minutes on the computer to see if everything is legit. 3 weeks seems kinda ridiculous.

All depends on how backed up they are. Just gotta wait on them really. I hated waiting....took mine almost six months to get back to me!

I got mine in early 2008 and it took about 200 days from the time I submitted my application.

A Long time! Never heard anyone getting it back that fast, guess it's possible. My wife did her CHL and it took 6 months...

I never bothered to apply for my CHL til just a couple of months ago. I got to thinking that it may be good to have just in case. I kinda figure the way things are going that it may be hard to get one in the future. Really, if you think about it, it sucks that we have to have a license to carry anyway. Ought to be a basic right in my opinion.

A good friend of the family just took the class a month before me and it only took him 5 weeks from the time he sent it in to the time he got his license in the mail.

Just never know I guess.

Yeah, I know it may take a while to actually get the license, I was just wondering how long the background check stayed under review on the website. Seems like that should go pretty quick.

90 days is the law(so they say), if you haven't been approved or turned down, the email your congress persone and the Gov office, I did, and was approved with in 2 days. Be sure to note the 90 part, and indicate the day you mailed it. Add you CHL # and contact info. This seems to speed things up....

Have you done your electronic finger prints yet? i sent my package in and waited like 3 weeks. so i called and the guy says that they just throw them in a box until the get a bunch or have time to do them. i think it was like 4 weeks or so and they finially sent me my paper to set up to get my finger prints done. now its another waiting game. most people i talked to said about 2-3 months after they get your paperwork...

That's way to long they need to speed it up. No wonder everyone grips about the Texas chl.
