    yes/no?
Halliburton and Baker Hughes are among the many firms that could be affected by the drilling suspension in the deep-water Gulf, an area that has grown rapidly in recent years and now accounts for about a quarter of U.S. oil and gas production.

    You tell me?

A buddy of mine posted this as his FB status

"Obama launches his career by criticizing GW over his military engagements in Iraq. The international community decries US involvement in another countries affairs and removing a countries leader by force. Now Obama and the rest of the world deem it is ok to take military action in Libya. What makes the removal of Gaddafi ok, but the removal of Saddam reprehensible? Quite the double standard."

      Spot on!!

In November 2002, KBR was tasked to plan oil well firefighting in Iraq, and in February 2003 was issued a contract to conduct the work. Critics contend that it was a no-bid contract, awarded due to **** Cheney's position as vice president. Concern was also expressed that the contract could allow KBR to pump and distribute Iraqi oil. Others contend, however, that this was not strictly a no-bid contract, and was invoked under a contract that KBR won "in a competitive bid process."[30] The contract, referred to as LOGCAP, is a contingency-based contract that is invoked at the convenience of the Army. Because the contract is essentially a retainer, specific orders are not competitively bid (as the overall contract was). KBR is a subsidiary of Halliburton is it not?

Heres what the dictionary defines it as.

          Definition of DEMOCRACY
1a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2: a political unit that has a democratic government
3capitalized : the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the United States <from emancipation Republicanism to New Deal Democracy — C. M. Roberts>
4: the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
5: the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges

          So lets break this down.
          1. supreme power vested in the people, nope we cant even elect our own president, electoral college does that, even if its different from the popular vote.
          4. Common People. Senators and Representatives never seem to look like the common guy I see at wal mart, or on this site because wal mart people is probably a bad example

          5. Tax cuts for the wealthies top percents seem like a priviledge to me!
Exactly why we are called a Republic. The line goes " For the Republic we Stand", not "for the Democracy we stand". The Battle hymn of the Republic, not the Battle hymn of the Democracy.

Could this be the beginnings of a 3rd World war? What if N. Korea gets involved?

Nope, Marine Harriers launched bombing missions off the USS Kearsarge this morning. Navy EA18 Growlers are flying ECM missions too

Convert to natural gas and be done with it. I think our plan is to use all the oil world wide and then convert? Do you think it will be all peaches if we do this? Converting US to natural gas would create so many "US" jobs it would not be funny.

Let's see. Jobs at Ford, Chevy, Dodge to name a few converting production.

              Jobs installing new NG pumps.

Jobs building compressors, tanks, carbs/nat. gas,

              Jobs drilling, pipelining

I can go on my friends I was one of the first licensed in Texas in early 90's as our gov. then declared a must do and then changed their mind when gas prices dropped (go figure).

Our economy now it too much based on foreigner's we could change that in a few years easily.

Yep. some of the big oil guys might lose money or could they just "convert" like the rest of us.

We have enough Nat. gas to last HUNDREDS of years easily.

Burns cleaner more efficient..get that tree hugger's ?

They say NO ground troops will go, I'm not holding my breath on that. Thinking by 2012 we will have ground troops there.

x2....too bad our "leaders" don't see it this way, and we have enough oil here in the states that we should not have to depend on other countries. and besides most of those people don't like us anyway so, in my opinion we need to fix our problems first{ people losing their home, people going hungry and no money for the school system...and much more} so instead of worrying about other countries , how about "America First!!!!" please don't get me wrong I feel really bad for those over there who have lost their homes and way of life, but I think that if we fix our problems first then we would be a much better nation. jmo
