could list off more if I wanted to think about it but every one of those, we got involved BECAUSE if the islamic faith......if it had not been for islam....I don't think we would have ever gone to the extremes we have with the aforementioned list...yes we still would have involvement with them just like every other country.
I mean there is oil in Canada....Russia, Mexico, Venezuela, etc, etc.....have we ever gone to war with those countries?

Once again we are jumping in on the basis of protecting people then today Russia says we need to use restraint and both them and China voted against the use of force to protect the people. The USA needs to stand back from now on and let Russia and China jump in and protect the people that are being slaughtered, they never jump in and help anyone but just complain about us doing so. It's time for the other countries to step up and be the moral police I'm tired of our soldiers and money going over there.

Definition of DEMOCRACY
1a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2: a political unit that has a democratic government
3capitalized : the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the United States <from emancipation Republicanism to New Deal Democracy — C. M. Roberts>
4: the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
5: the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges
So lets break this down.
1. supreme power vested in the people, nope we cant even elect our own president, electoral college does that, even if its different from the popular vote.
4. Common People. Senators and Representatives never seem to look like the common guy I see at wal mart, or on this site because wal mart people is probably a bad example
5. Tax cuts for the wealthies top percents seem like a priviledge to me!

While some other countries are involved at the start we get left holding the bag. The worst part is it's our soldiers we are putting at risk. Again the other UN nations need to get involved first and be there last. Why are we the only one with a moral compass?
Expecting Russia or China to do anything for anyone is a joke...remember, they have no problems with culling their society...they have done it before....just the way they think.....no one else has the means required to do anything on such a large scale without our assistance or should I say no one else could do what we do and ride someone's coattails.......

Why do we stick our nose in other peoples business? Clearly it's politics but it just confuses me. God bless our military for what they do but why do our leaders continue to put them in harms way. I will be shocked if we don't send any ground troops over there at all. This " Big Brother" role is a joke to me. JMO

our having to protect people who are not willing to protect themselves is a necessary evil that goes along with our way of life....there is probably no one or very few here that would not stand up for someone getting picked on or abused....this is the same scenario on a larger scale.....and hence, costs way more when getting involved....the problem with most of those countries we save from destruction is 99% of the time they do not feel that they owe us anything or there are the extremists that do not care and will go balls to the wall to get us out and try to take control....those whack jobs do not like us in the first place and never will, not sure why cleaning up the mess does not involve taking out that trash as well...if we did that small investment, we would not have to continually make these very LARGE investments to really accomplish nothing besides rotating out our stock of weaponry and losing American lives....
what happened to delta force and the like? did we lose our gumption for stuff like that with Mogadishu?Last edited by blacksunshine; 03-20-2011, 08:36 AM.
