I always love it when someone says that there place is covered up with 160 class bucks, those place are very few and far between. Plus the one's that actually are don't get on forums and brag about it.

TX624 you should know this, you've hunted one of the rare ones that does have lots of monsters low fence. I believe your searching for another LA G ranch, that place is special and not many of them around at all. Good luck on your search
I do know this, was just really curious about a guaranteed 180 at half price. Cant blame me for that!

I was thinking I could knock a couple of things off of my bucket list with that.

I guess we should have persued a spot on that ranch back in the early 80's, could have leased a pasture for a little over $10k. Of course we could not afford it then either

The ranch had a few spots open last season, I'm sure the price had something to do with it. You would think ranches like this would never have an open spot, because the hunting is so good. But honestly I guess who ever can pay $15k for a deer lease more than likely already owns their own ranch. Most people who are serious deer hunters and own a good ranch wont normally get on an expensive deer lease. They will buy package hunts instead. This place in Maverick county is a big ranch and is surrounded by other big, well managed places. If I got on this place I'd expect to shoot a 170+ this season.
I know the place that you are talking about. I used to hunt next to it before I bought my own place. They have some big deer on the place but If you get on they won't let you shoot one. You would be lucky to get to shoot a 160. I couldn't put up with the moron that runs it if he gave hunts away for free.

No idea what pasture this is, but I have hunted on one that is 5k and another behind it that is nearly 4k. There are monsters throughout the Calleghan. They have been under management for years. I know the guy who has donated hunts to our group and what they paid, but they have close to 20 guys on their 5k.

A good opporunity at a 180, I believe. Guarantees on wild animals are hard to cash in on though...

Im guessing it is the Rancharia or Cabacitas pasture. I think those were the names. Last I heard it had about 10 spots at that price. I would say out of those 10 spots, most are not going to even shoot a 160" deer. There are a couple great ones taken on that ranch each year but not in the 17K range and the total ranch is 90,000 acres. Send me a PM to let me know who is running it nowadays. I used to hunt there about 10 yrs ago.

That's higher than giraffe ......!!! I hunted hogs and does on one of the pastures about 6 years ago that a friend had leased. I want to say it was roughly half that price back then.

I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money on a lease. I guess if I actually had that kind of cash then my perspectives would change quite a bit.

Like I said though, just a guess.

That is a LOT of Dough$$$$
Negative on the $40 per acre.

We are talking to the Callahan now and should know soon how many ranches within will be open. The prices we discussed are from $15 to $20 per acre depending on the place.
